Citizen Corps

The mission of the Citizen Corps is to harness the power of every individual through education, training and volunteer service to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, and disasters of all kinds.

In Pennington County, the Board of County Commissioners has appointed the Pennington County LEPC to serve as the county's official Citizen Corps Council. The Council meets four times a year and all meetings are open to the public.

Active Volunteer Organizations

In Pennington County, we have 4 active volunteer organizations operating under the Citizen Corps umbrella:

  • Pennington County Medical Reserve Corps
  • VIPS (Volunteers in Police Service)
  • Senior Volunteers and VIPS Reserves
  • Rapid Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. Fire Corps
  • Johnson Siding Volunteer Fire Dept. Fire Corps
